Living in BinHai
Living in the Binhai district of Tianjin grants a unique perspective on life in China. Without losing any of the authenticity or tradition of this ancient country, TEDA is a far cry from the bustling streets of the big cities. A quaint and peaceful area dotted with parks and open green spaces, with trees running the length of the roads, it provides opportunities for a more relaxed lifestyle than that in the city center. But it does not lack in terms of ways to fill your time.

Filling up your free time.
Third street and the MSD buildings provide plenty of opportunity for entertainment, through a wide variety of Western and Chinese restaurants, massage parlors, karaoke bars and cinemas to name but a few attractions. The area is always being improved; construction and renovation seem to be constantly under way and there is a sense of local pride among the people who live and work here.
The friendly and welcoming nature of the people here is one of the most charming aspects of life in TEDA, and communication is never an issue. It may seem like a much more laid back and quiet life here, but there are always chances to get out and meet people. Whether it be through playing sports in some of the local football pitches or badminton courts, or just visiting some of the many pubs and bars dotted around the streets, all of which provide English service and many of which offer live music and entertainment.
But one of the best things about life in Binhai is the ease of transport. The Tianjin Metro line 9 runs straight through the area, with several large malls and recognizable stores such as Decathlon being just a stop away, and the more rustic area of Tanggu also only two stops away, if you desire a more authentic Chinese shopping experience. Travelling around the district, or to and from the city center is cheap and easy – it’s only around 50 minutes journey by the Metro or less if you take one of the taxis which are always running the streets. Trips into the city center can be as rare or as often as you like, as everything you need can be found here. If you wish to visit friends or see some of the sights and even bigger shopping centers in the city, there is never any hassle.
